ZaC has developed much physically and mentally these past few months. He recognises familiar faces and is able to communicate his needs better. He's starting to be self-aware and knows how to look for Daddy & Mummy - whom he's closest to. He's cruising around the house easily, so look forward to his first independent step soon!

mR mEsSy @ mEaLtiMeS

ZaC has all his meals on his high chair and loves the different types of porridge (sweet potato, pumpkin, brocolli + carrot, brocolli + fish + carrot, spinach + carrot) prepared for him. However, he can't seem to sit still. He knows it's mealtime when he's placed on the high chair but he dislikes sitting in it. His hands will be busy rubbing his face after each mouthful of porridge! So, the porridge on his mouth will end up on his hair, eyelids, eyebrows, ear, and even on the high chair. Mummy has to start singing nursery rhythms with actions to prevent him catch his attention and prevent him from having porridge spread all over himself. Hopefully, he will learn to sit still and feed himself in the future.

ZaC's fiRst fRoWn

Mummy was able to capture ZaC's first frown when he was making this face at 四姑who chided him for being naughty. He frowned for at least 5 seconds!

ZaC the RoCkStaR

Mummy has been trying hard to 'accessorize' ZaC cos dressing up a boy is not as fun as dolling up a girl. Girls can wear hairbands, clips, hats, etc. Poor ZaC has to put up with Mummy. Lately, Mummy found an ideal accessory for ZaC - the bandana! Since ZaC's hair has been making slow progress with its growth, Mummy has to protect his scalp from the harsh rays of the sun (an excuse by Mummy, of cos). Sometimes ZaC is a good boy to wear them, but most of the time he just wanna yank them out of his head!

iKeA

Mummy loves going to IKEA for her favourite meatballs and home furnishings. Now that IKEA has opened another outlet in Tampines, it is more convenient for Mummy to pop by. ZaC has been to Tampine's IKEA on several occasions but it's his first time sitting in the IKEA baby chair. ZaC is excited cos he can be seated at the same table with Daddy and Mummy while having a meal together. Mummy is sure ZaC will also love the meatballs when he's old enough to have them!

hApPy biRtHdAy DaDdy!

Today is Daddy's birthday. ZaC cherishes every "Daddy time" (swimming, baths, snuggling in bed, etc) as he can only spend time with Daddy at night and during weekends.
Hopefully, ZaC will learn to sing the birthday song for Daddy soon!

ReAdy tO Go!

ZaC loves "gai gai" (going out). He knows when Mummy dresses him up and leaves him in the cot while she gets ready. He will eagerly wait for Daddy to place him in his stroller and push him along the corridor.

eNeRgetiC ZaC

ZaC's favourite area is under the dining table. ZaC crawls really fast towards it everytime he spots it. He loves staying under the dining table, exploring the table cloth and patting the chairs with his palms. Soon he will grow taller and his head will reach the glass top of the dining table. Hopefully, he will stop going there by then!
Now he has learnt to maneuver himself around the furniture and also how to get down slowly and safely by landing on his bum lightly. If someone is nearby, he'll stretch his arm to reach out for help. Initially he would turn suddenly or let go and fall back! *gasp*

Here's ZaC playing in his makeshift playground. We have to be creative to keep him occupied and prevent him from exploring some areas in the house which might be dangerous. He loves going through the tunnel and climbing all over the mattress. However, soon he will be venturing somewhere forbidden again.....

ZaC's faVouRiTe sNaCk

Even though ZaC has just finished his porridge, he can never resist the temptaion of having his favourite snack - Gerber Graduate's Finger Food. He loves the Banana Puffs. Mummy has also bought the sweet potato puffs which ZaC hasn't tried. ZaC will surely love them too! However, Mummy will make sure he doesn't have too many at one go or else he may fall sick. He must also drink plenty of water after taking them. Mummy is also using them to teach ZaC to use his thumb and index finger to pick up the little puffs and place them into his mouth. With more practice, ZaC will surely learn soon!

nOw ZaC has a pair of tEeTH!

Wow...ZaC's 2nd tooth has appeared. And look he's already putting them into 'good use' (look at the damage he has done).....

Now we certainly cannot leave him alone in his cot. He's like a little rat, always chewing and nibbling away at everything he can get his hands on!

sHaDow pLay

ZaC's latest discovery is SHADOWS! When the sun shines into the living room, he is fascinated by the shadows cast on the floor. At night, he will follow his own shadow reflection on the floor. It's amusing to see him try to 'chase & catch' his own shawdow!

a dAy iN ZaC's LiFe

Here's a schedule of ZaC's daily activities, which is quite routine now. His mealtimes are quite fixed. He loves mealtimes, regardless of the food given to him. His other tooth has also started growing, so he wants to 'bite' and feel the different textures of his food.
Mummy tries to control his daytime naps to a total of 3 hours. However, he loves to take power naps lasting only 30mins!
Bathtimes are always a joy for ZaC. He loves splashing the water and playing with his bathtime toys.

bEan bAg fUn

One of ZaC's favourite activity is lying on the bean bag, chewing his teether. However, he has a 'sharp' bum so he cannot lie on it for long. Now he can even turn himself and wriggle out. In the future, ZaC will definately be fighting with Daddy over it!

ZaC has not started walking yet so he does not need any shoes. When Mummy discovered this pair of socks with shoe design, she couldn't resist buying them! Aren't they cute?! It comes in red and blue.

zAc @ 8 mOnthS - aPpLe oF oUr eyE

Likes: Swimming, food (especially those which Daddy & Mummy are eating), listening to Mummy reading bedtime stories, bathtime with Daddy, playtime with 四姑, ear-cleaning, using his mouth to taste everything, bright lights
Dislikes: People washing his face, to be hungry, sitting stationery for a long time

oUr Lil mOnkEy

As ZaC is teething, he has been busy biting his teethers. One of his favourite is this monkey teether which 四姑 bought for him. ZaC has also become more expressive and responsive lately. He will call out when to attract our attention. When he's excited (especially when he's outdoors), he'll also squeal in delight! Sometimes he will try to converse with Mummy, attempting to answer her in his 'baby language'.

ZaC's fiRst tOotH

ZaC's first tooth is out! Now whenever he bites his teether, we can hear the sound of his tooth rubbing against it. His appetite has also improved. He takes porridge, rice cereal, biscuits and fruits now. He loves food that has texture so that he can feel them with his tongue. Whenever he sees Daddy & Mummy eating, he'll imitate the "chewing" action.

mR cUriOuS

ZaC is really active now, crawling everywhere and exploring almost every corner of the flat. His latest haunt is our kitchen and the star attraction there is the washing machine! Whenever Mummy does the laundry, he'll be there looking in amusement the clothes tossing and turning inside. He loves it when he can spot his colourful toys inside as well! So, when the washing machine is idle, he took the opportunity to take a peek inside. If he can, he'll wanna go inside too!

Whenever ZaC goes out with Daddy & Mummy, his eyes will be busy looking at bright signboards and lights. His mouth will be busy licking, biting and sucking a teether. However, he always prefers the chain attached to the teether (which prevents it from dropping onto the floor). In the end, the chain and his bib will be covered with his drool. So, maybe next time Daddy & Mummy should get more chains (as they are cheaper)!

CheEky bOy's nEw tRicK

ZaC learnt a new trick on his own this week! 姑姑was carrying him and patting him to sleep when she realised his pacifier was missing from his mouth. She searched for it, thinking he dropped it. But guess where it was....it was inside his mouth! That cheeky boy can actually conceal the whole pacifier inside his tiny (or so we thought) mouth. Watch the video to see how he performs the "Now you see it, now you don't" trick!

wAteR baBy

Two weeks ago, ZaC used his swimming float for the first time and loved it! He can't stop kicking and splashing in the water. He'll surely spend many more happy hours playing with it. But he gotta wait till he recovers from his flu and cough.

ZaC is teething....

These past few days, ZaC is fond of placing stuff into his mouth and rubbing them hard against his gums. Then we discovered a hole in his gums which is where his first tooth will appear. We are all really excited about it, awaiting the arrival of his first tooth!

LeArNinG nEw tHingS frOm DaDdy

ZaC spends quality time with Daddy when he returns home from work everyday. This gives Mummy time to have dinner. Daddy loves to place ZaC on his tummy and makes funny noises to amuse him. Sometimes they will be engaged in some rough play too.

When Daddy is at work, ZaC loves to hear his voice over the loudspeaker. His face will light up when he hears the ringing tone.

ZaC has learnt many tricks under Daddy's patient guidance:
1) When you say "kok, kok" and bring your head close to his, he will knock your head lightly with his.

2) When you lift up your palm and say "hi-five", ZaC will bring his palm and light tap on it.

3) When his arm is lifted, his fingers will open and close to signal the "bye-bye" hand sign.

Hopefully, he'll be able to master the "Gong Xi" hand sign by the next Chinese New Year and collect many ang baos!

mY pOor siCk bOy...agAiN

ZaC is down with flu & cough. This time, he also lost his voice. Now, he can only try babble in his hoarse voice. But doc says he doesn't have a sore throat. He has also lost his appetite and wakes up several times in the night as he finds it difficult to breathe with his blocked nose. Good thing is, he's still as active as ever....trying to use any furniture he can find to support himself to stand. He's taking his medicine dutifully and hope he gets well soon!

cHeCk oUt ZaC's nEw stUnT

Zac has been practising hard his new "stunt" these days. He is attempting to stand with the support of any furniture near him. After a week of practising, he succeeded! He loves doing his "stunt" inside his cot, using his rocker and the coffee table. Daddy & Mummy are busy keeping an eye on him as he will suddenly let go and fall backwards (esp. inside his cot). He only knows how to stand but not the other part of getting back down yet.

ZaC's fiRst SwiMmiNg sEsSiOn

Zac had his first swimming session last weekend. At first, he was frightened when Daddy carried him into the baby pool. But after he has 'warmed up' to his new surrounding, he started splashing the water happily with his hands. Zac looks so adorable in his pair of swim nappy too!

6.5 mOntHs sTatS

Zac went to the polyclinic for his jab. He has grown again. Soon Mummy will find it hard to carry him for long periods of time. Besides physical developments, Zac's communication skills are expanding rapidly too. He started babbling, squealing and making bubbling sounds. When he babbles, he goes "ba" & "ma" which sounds like him calling Daddy & Mummy but he doesn't know the meaning.

加油, 智安!

Zac has been practising his crawl everyday and now he can use both his arms to support himself while crawling forward. At least now Daddy & Mummy won't be afraid he'll hurt himself whenever he heaves himself forward, landing on his chest. Now he's starting to hold onto furniture to support himself to stand.
