GiVe uS oUr cHeErFuL ZaC bAcK

ZaC has not been feeling well these 2 weeks. He had sore throat, followed by runny nose then cough. But they didn't bother ZaC very much and he was still as active as before. He had stopped all medication by last weekend. However on Monday, Mummy noticed ZaC's body was hot when she picked him up from school. That night, ZaC woke up at 3am and Mummy felt his forehead and body really hot. The 2 thermometers at home indicated 37.2-37.6 deg. Mummy was apprehensive to believe the readings and took ZaC to the doctor the next day. His temp was 38 deg. After 2 doses of panadol, ZaC's temp was back to normal and medication was stopped. But on Tue night, ZaC woke up at 1am crying loudly non-stop. Whatever he asked for, he was given but he rejected them. This went on for many rounds - ZaC would cry loudly and stopped occasionally before starting again. After much coaxing and walking ard the whole house to accommodate his demands, he was tired from all the crying and fell asleep.

On Wed night, he woke up crying ard 1am again. The cycle started once more. By this time, Daddy & Mummy were totally clueless and helpless with the situation. Nothing could appease ZaC. It went on & off until finally at 5am (close to daybreak), ZaC suddenly calmed down and wanted to watch Elmo DVD. Not long after, he fell asleep.

On Thurs night, the whole episode started again at 11plus and escalated at 12:30am. ZaC was crying really badly and it seemed like nothing could make him stop. Daddy & Mummy felt really helpless and desperate. Mummy recalled speaking with ZaC's teacher and one neighbour abt his crying earlier in the day. Both of them offered the same advice (shower ZaC with 7 pcs of red paper, 7 grains of rice and pomegranate leaves). Mummy got the red paper and went outside to get some pomegrenate leaves. Once Mummy stepped into the hse with the leaves, ZaC immediately stopped crying and calmed down. Not wanting to rush ZaC to shower, we strolled to the nearby temple (one of ZaC's fav places) at 1:15am to get an amulet. ZaC was happily chatting and playing all the way there and back (back to his usual self). He showered, drank milk and had a good night's rest by 2am.

Daddy & Mummy are not superstitious but ZaC has been 'sensitive' since young. If Daddy came back from funerals or brought cakes (one mth celebration) back home and forgot to wash his face with pomegranate leaves before entering the hse, ZaC will wake up crying in the middle of the night (but never as bad as this time). In order to have ZaC back to normal, everything is worth a try. He has been sleeping well since Thurs night (fingers crossed).

Daddy & Mummy finally found time to bring ZaC to the Marina Barrage! The weather was good and breezy. ZaC loved watching all the kites and walking on the grass. Yes, he was the peculiar habit of walking on grass and not on the pavements. Maybe it's becos Mummy used to walk on grass barefooted once a week while ZaC was still in her tummy?! Mummy introduced ZaC to Wally and ZaC was happy to have a new friend! There are many water fountains and water playground for kids. However, ZaC could not join in the fun as he did not have an extra set of clothes. ZaC will definately go back again soon!

FaVoUriTe fOrtUnE cAt

ZaC is born in the year of the Rat, so why does he love cats so much? His all-time favourite is the Fortune Cat. He learnt to recognise it even before he can talk! Unfortunately, most Fortune Cats are made of fragile porcelain so ZaC can only admire them from afar and cannot bring one home with him. ZaC had 2 plastic ones - one which is a "不倒翁" (which he broke) and another one with its hand moving up & down using solar power (also spoilt). Finally, Daddy & Mummy spotted a soft toy version in Tampines! This one will definately last longer than the rest!

A BitE mArK fRoM sCHoOL

Someone got a bite of ZaC this week at school. It was ZaC's fault as he grabbed his classmate's toy. Both boys ended up fighting and this is what ZaC got. Teacher said ZaC also bit his classmate, but didn't say who. So Daddy & Mummy could not access the 'injury' of his classmate. When Mummy asked ZaC how he got the mark on his hand, he refused to answer and changed the topic.

A yEaR iN PiC - 2009

Year 2009 flew past really fast and ZaC is now an active toddler! He started to walk, run and is now really good at climbing! ZaC also knows how to express his thoughts and feelings through speech (although still limited). Being outdoors & close to nature is still what he loves best. ZaC started school and is learning to be independent (as he sticks to Mummy like super glue) and interact socially. He has always been friendly but he will have to learn to share with others. Reading is something he enjoys everyday, especially nursery rhymes. His 'Terrible Two' antics are keeping Daddy & Mummy clueless about how to deal with him but he's still our cheeky & lovable little boy!

ZaC's 2nD cHriStmAs

It's an annual tradition for Daddy & Mummy to take pictures of the Xmas Lighting. This year, ZaC was able to appreciate the colourful decorations and loved the coloured balls hanging from the trees along Orchard Road. ZaC was also amazed with all the giant Christmas trees he saw. However, ZaC was afraid of the 'snow' (more like a blizzard to him) at Tanglin Mall. Mummy is sure ZaC will grow to love it as he gets older and sees how much fun the other kids had! Hopefully, ZaC will also learn to look at the camera while Daddy takes pictures cos it was really difficult trying to get the curious ZaC's attention as he was distracted with all the colourful decorations around him!
